BLACK DYNAMITE {prod}

This was my first foray into feature films as a producer. My brothers and I (Funk Brothers) had teamed up with long time friend and prolific Broadway theater producer John B. Platt to help bring this action-comedic parody of 1970's blaxploitation movies (like Shaft and Superfly) to a theater near you. Black Dynamite was just such an incredibly fun script to read and Michael J White so perfectly casted as the leading man, it seemed impossible to pass up on. Come on, with a synopsis like this:

Black Dynamite’s brother is murdered while working undercover for the CIA trying to stop the trade of heroin on ghetto streets. Black Dynamite is able to finish what his brother started by deploying his superior Kung Fu training and irresistible way with woman. However, while he and his Kung Fu buddies are able to clean up the streets, Black Dynamite uncovers a conspiracy to shrink the black man genitalia through the distribution of tainted Malt Liquor. Black Dynamite ends up in the oval office fighting the mastermind of this conspiracy, President Richard Nixon. Aiding Black Dynamite in this numchuk battle in none other than the ghost of Abraham Lincoln.

Had to happen.
