LG LIFE'S GOOD: 378 War {dir}
This legendary rivalry between the Lincoln County Tigers and the Washington-Wilkes Red Devils, coined the "378 War," first kicked off in 1922 and represents a battle for annual bragging rights between neighboring towns on either side of US 378 Highway. The clash is one of the most heated and anticipated rivalries in high school football.
During filming of the week's long lead up to the event, we could feel history and gravity of the game. With so much pride on the line, everyone from both towns gets involved to some extent. From barbershops to the Mayor's office, from alumni to future generations. It was a hype.
In the end, we chose a monochrome deliverable in order to reduce the weight of division. For us, the heart of the story wasn't the rivalry, it was the commonality. The shared struggle on and off the field. It was about legacy and how inspiring rivalries like this can teach us how to hold our heads high despite winning or losing.
On a personal note, I don't think I've ever wanted to do a follow up "where are they now" type projects like I do for this one.
